Major General David Tsur, former Commander of the Tel Aviv District Police, is a well known figure in Israel’s national protection forces as he brings a wealth of experience acquired in his diverse roles at different levels within Israel’s top public authority institutions.

After serving as a platoon commander in the I.D.F. paratroopers’ unit (1977-1980), David joined the Israeli Police Counter-Terror Unit (“YAMAM”), where in 1991 was appointed as unit commander. In 1995, he took an unpaid leave from the Israel Police to go and serve as a security consultant for the Organization Committee of the Atlanta Olympics (1996).

At his return to Israel, David was appointed Commander of the Shephela Sub-District within the Central District of the Israeli Police, from where he gradually got promoted to Brigadier General and appointed Head of the Special Operations Units Command, in addition to being a Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the I.N.P. (Israel National Police). In 2000, he was appointed Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Homeland Security and promoted to the rank of Major General. In 2004, he was appointed Commander of the Tel Aviv District Police, in charge of the largest metropolitan area, where he served until his retirement in 2007.

In 2013, he was elected to the Knesset (Israeli Parliament), where he chaired three subcommittees: “Women Trafficking Prevention”, “Road Safety” and “Violence and Racism Prevention in the Sport”.

In 2015, he founded his consulting company, Shatz Ltd., and took the role of C.E.O. Shatz Ltd. provides high-end security consulting for large-scale and strategic projects to countries and private organizations worldwide.
